Dutch translation: Please note that the Dutch version of the site uses the formal address ("u hebt", "u kunt") - not the informal voice ("je", "jou").
German translation: also used the formal address ("Sie", "Ihre") instead of informale ones ("Du", "Dein") - as Steven in the Dutch version.
But I am not sure, if this is good, if we should not use the informal address....
PS: would be good to have a possibility to edit/correct my own translation :-) so far it seems to be impossible....
Hi Sven-Andris,
Thank you for the suggestion. We will work on adding the ability to edit/correct your own translation.
Hi Sven-Andris,
We just added in the functionality to allow you to edit/correct your own translation.
Hi, everyone:
Ana, translating TM-Town to Pt-Br.
Here's a question for you:
Hi, I am translating this at the moment, but there's something that makes no sense. The source reads:
answer_2_html:
TM-Town is a platform to help you connect with end clients looking for professional translators. On TM-Town clients can message you directly from your TM-Town public profile. Whether and how you choose to work with that client is then up to you. TM-Town %{strong} receive money nor a cut on any jobs you may get from the platform. %{em}
BUT, shouldn't it be:
TM-Town %{strong} DOES NOT receive money nor a cut on any jobs you may get from the platform. %{em}
?
Because "nor" implies that there's a negative statement before it too.
I tried to make a comment on the actual translation interface, but I wasn't successful (sorry).
Let me know how to proceed and allow me to make any necessary corrections, too.
Regards,
Ana Fonseca

Italian translation: Please note that the Italian version of the site is using the informal address ("tu") - not the formal "lei", "voi" or the indefinite "si".
Hi Kevin,
It would be great if we could see the segments that have been translated and proofed - even if they are locked: it would help maintaining consistency.
Hi Riccardo,
Thanks - great suggestion! I have just added that so now you can see all of the translations (even for the ones that are locked).
Please note that Chinese is Simplified Chinese (zh-CN) [Simplified and using Mainland Chinese terms]
Hi Ana,
Thank you for your help! The source segment you are referring to reads as follows:
TM-Town is a platform to help you connect with end clients looking for professional translators. On TM-Town clients can message you directly from your TM-Town public profile. Whether and how you choose to work with that client is then up to you. TM-Town DOES NOT receive money nor a cut on any jobs you may get from the platform.
If you hover your mouse over the %{strong} symbol in the source segment, there should be a tooltip to show you the phrase that will go there.
I think it reads as you expected, but maybe I am misunderstanding your question. Let me know if I have failed to answer your concern.
Hi there, everyone!
Couple of questions on Russian translation to all concerned:
Thanks in advance!
Hi everyone!
Regarding ES-es localization, I'd like to share some points. I'd love to read your opinions on them!
I've read "expertise" translated as "pericia". In my experience in the industry, it doesn't sound natural. I'd go for "especialización". I know there's "specialization" in English, but if you think of the usage of the words "expertise" in English and "especialización"" in Spanish, you find out they're the right equivalents. Now, most of the translations talk about "pericia" and have been proofread 3 times like that. This means it cannot be changed.
Another thing is the use of "please" in English and Spanish. In Spanish, it's usually omitted. However, I see that it's been included in most translations.
About "Similarity score", I agree with the comment in the translation. In fact, In Spain I haven't heard much of "puntajes". I would definitely call it "Puntuación de similitud" in ES-es.
In "Match strenght", "strenght" is translated as "poder" or "fortaleza". However, I would rather choose "nivel" or "grado" ("de coincidencia"). Then if it's finally decided to change it, the rest of sentences containing this term will have to change the article to adjust to it.
¡Saludos!
Thanks for great points Indira! We'll definitely consult those during the final QA process.
Hi everyone!
I am also a collaborator translator to the site and have a question about the brackets.
When I see the brackets, do I replace them in my target field by the word or words I saw when I hovered my mouse over the brackets on the source field? YEs, I read the guidelines, but I am sorry I am still a bit confused.
Kevin Dias, I've just seen your answer to Ana and I've noticed this replacement is what you've done. My question is: did you do it just as an example to show her the word that appear when she hovers her mouse over the brackets in that source sentence OR did you do that as an answer to what should be actually done?
Sorry that I did not get it right away from the guidelines, but I think my doubt is the same as Ana's actually... :)
Regards,
Ludmilla
...ops the wordS that appear... :)
Hi Ludmilla,
Thank you for your help and sorry for the confusion. When you see the brackets, do not replace them with the words you see when you hover, keep them as is in the target field. For example if the source segment is:
Source: Hello %{href} world
then the target segment should be
Target: Hola %{href} mundo
The bracket (in this case %{href}) stays the same in the target segment.
Hi everyone,
There was a bug where in a few cases the translation form was submitted twice in quick succession (causing there to be a few duplicates and also causing double the points to be awarded).
That bug has been fixed, duplicates removed, and the points have been recalculated. Therefore if you notice a slight difference in your points this is the reason. If you have any questions on this please feel free to email me. I apologize for the inconvenience.
Nate designed a 'TM-Town Localization Contributor' badge that now appears on your TM-Town profile if you have helped with this project. Clicking on it goes to this page https://www.tm-town.com/localization-contributors which shows all of the contributors.
Thanks to all who have helped so far! We really appreciate it.
Hi Kevin!
So I repeat the brackets in the target field.
...and after copying the brackets in target the next word to them will be the one I see when I hover over the brackets in source? Because if not, one word will really miss and the sentence makes no sense.
If that's it, I got it. :)
Could you please just confirm it to me?
Best,
Ludmilla
Hi Ludmilla,
Yes, repeat the brackets in the target field. The words you see in the bracket when you hover over it in the source are to help you translate the sentence correctly.
Here is another example:
Source: %{href} to learn more about Nakōdo.
If I hover over %{href} it says "Click here". This is to let me know the actual full text of the sentence so I can translate it correctly. The resulting target segment translation that I enter into the box and submit should read as follows:
Target: %{href} para obtener más información sobre Nakōdo.
I hope that answers your question.
Best,
Kevin
Hi Kevin,
For some source texts in single word, there might be several meanings or target text possible, is there a way to show a bit more where it is being used? I know most of the words we can find by browsing through the website, however, some terms might not be available in our portals, or the same word which carries different meaning in different webpage, such as "To", "By" etc are translated now based on best guess only.
Thanks!
Hi Sim Sy Jiun,
Thank you for your help!
For "To" that is used to show a language pair such as "Japanese to English" or "Spanish to French".
Could you tell me which section "By" is in and I will be happy to give you more context? Or any other source terms you are having trouble with, just tell me the section and I try to give you better context.
I think the source segments that contain "by" are:
Hi Kevin,
I think it is easier if I check on context along the work based on session otherwise I myself would lost track too :)
I am working on Top Nav section now, a few words need clarification of context:
I will check on those ambiguous items and send you more messages later.
Thanks!
Hi Kevin,
Is it ok if we change the punctuation marks from the source text? As it is quite rare that in Chinese every short sentence was ended with a full stop, usually will be a comma if the next sentence has high correlation.
Thanks!
Hi Sim Sy Jiun,
Admin is the menu header which only appears for translators who are selling glossaries on the TM-Town Terminology Marketplace. There is currently one item in that dropdown which is Marketplace Sales which leads to a page where that translator can track the number of sales of their glossaries.
Is it ok if we change the punctuation marks from the source text?
Yes, sure.
Thanks for your help!

Dutch translation: Please note that the Dutch version of the site uses the formal address ("u hebt", "u kunt") - not the informal voice ("je", "jou").
But in the translations I worked on je/jou (informal) is used consistently. Which solution has been decided on? Thanks!
Hi all,
I wonder why the word 'assets' is not translated into Dutch. Can anyone tell me how I can add a translation to a segment?
Can someone please give me a full sentence wherein ' Term Concept' is used? Right now it's been translated literally but that doesn't make sence to me. A full sentence would be very helpfull for better understanding and therefor a better translation.
I'd like to help with Polish translation. How can I do so?
Hi Dariusz,
Thank you for your interest in helping. You can do so at this link: https://www.tm-town.com/site-localization/pl
I would like to help out with ZH translation and localization... :-)

Hello!
I have a question.
I clicked on the icon to help with the localization of TM-Town, English - Portuguese and I realized it is all translated and proofread. So there is nothing else to be worked on?
Hi Caroline,
Thank you for your willingness to help! The Portuguese localization work has been completed. At this time there is nothing else to be worked on.
