Comenzó a utilizarse en Europa a finales del siglo xv en relación con la acción financiera de desviar en beneficio propio bienes ajenos.	It started to be used by the end of XV century in relation with the financial action of diverting foreign property as a benefit.
Con posterioridad, tal acepción dio paso a la de «desviar la atención» en general, asociándose luego a la idea de placer y de ocio.	Later, such aceptation lead to the «diverting the atenttion» in general, linked later to the idea of pleasure and leasure.
En 1662, el filósofo francés Blaise Pascal elaboró un reputado estudio sobre el entretenimiento que fue publicado en 1670 en sus «Pensamientos», desarrollando la idea contradictoria de que es necesario que el hombre se distraiga y, por lo tanto, se aparte de lo esencial o también lo podemos utilizar de acuerdo.	In 1662, the French philosopher Blaise Pascal completed a reputed study about the entertainment, which was published in 1970 in his «Pensamientos», developing the contradictory idea that is necessary for men to get distracted, and therefore, he separates himself from the essencial or we can also use it accordingly.
