| It has been a while since the last time I updated this piece of information on my profile so I am going to write down the first thing that comes to my mind in English and then I will translate it manually in the block next to this one. |

| I would like to write about how reading influences my way of thinking. |

Nowadays, we live in a society filled with and moved by information. |
Hoje em dia, vivemos em uma sociedade cheia e movida por informação. |
| It is as if nearly everyone (or should I say about 95% of people) are living in the unconscious mind, unaware of what goes on in the present moment. |
É como se quase todo mundo (ou eu deveria dizer quase 95% das pessoas) estivesse vivendo na mente inconsciente, alheias sobre que está acontecendo no momento presente. |
| Most of it I think is due to the internet (more specifically, the bad use of it). |

| It is sad to see that most people are no longer interested in reading anymore. |

| When I was a kid, I remember how it used to be so common to find books, magazines, comics, and different types of printed information available anywhere for people to entertain themselves with. |

| Information that used to be more reliable and healthier to our brains. |

| However, nowadays, our smartphones have taken a lot of space in our lives which unfortunately is literally blocking our view of the world, and everything that goes on in the present moment around us. |
Contudo, hoje em dia, nossos smartphones tomaram bastante espaço em nossas vidas, o que infelizmente está literalmente bloqueando nossa visão do mundo e tudo aquilo que está acontecendo ao nosso redor no momento presente. |
| Instead of books, all we see are screens everywhere. |

| Masses are being manipulated by the social media, and letting themselves be influenced by information that sometimes are inviable and untrue. |

| This is specially true in countries like the USA and Brazil. |

| During their recent elections, probably two of the most used words in the news combined have been “fake news”. |

| Some individuals actually believed that injecting disinfectant would kill a virus or that a vaccine could cause HIV. |

| Reading quality books, books that have stand the test of time not only helped me to be more present, but also to think more critically and feel more creative in general. |
Ler livros de qualidade, livros que passaram pelo teste do tempo, não apenas me ajudou a me tornar mais presente, mas também a pensar de forma crítica e me sentir mais criativo de uma maneira geral. |
| The world would definitely become a better place if we all started to read more. |
O mundo certamente se tornaria um melhor lugar se todos nós começássemos a ler mais. |
| Reading is like acquiring a new life. |
Leitura é como adquirir uma nova vida. |
| To me it is as if for each book I read I get a glimpse of the author’s life from the ideas he or she expressed in his or her book. |
Para mim, é como se a cada livro que eu leio, eu adquirisse um pouquinho da vida do autor ou da autora através de suas ideias expressas no livro. |
| There is a certain magic to it that sparks a live feeling of being in the present moment as well as an explosion of thoughts, ideas and dreams. |
Há uma certa mágica na leitura que gera um sentimento vivo de estar no momento presente, bem como uma explosão de pensamentos, ideias e sonhos. |

| Perhaps we should rethink our habits towards technology and how we are currently using it. |

| It is of course a great tool and I am not saying we should go back to the time when there were no computers, no smartphones, or no internet. |

| I am just saying that we could and we should take good care of our brains by filtering the information that comes in daily, by acquiring healthy habits. |
Só estou dizendo que nós poderíamos e deveríamos cuidar de nossos cérebros através da filtragem das informações que recebemos diariamente ao adquirirmos hábitos mais saudáveis. |
| And of course, reading books, specially those that have stand the test of time will certainly help us in our constant search for meaning. |
E é claro, ler livros, especialmente os que passaram pelo teste do tempo, certamente nos ajudará em nossa constante busca por significado. |
