Embeddable Badges

Embeddable Badges

Today TM-Town is releasing embeddable badges. These personalized badges can be used on your website, blog, email signature, or other translation profile (for example your ProZ.com profile).

Your TM-Town badge is dynamic and will update as you load documents and build out your TM-Town profile. Your badge will link directly to your TM-Town profile page. The badge includes:

  • Your general tagline (this can be edited in your account settings)
  • Your translation unit count
  • Your term concept count
TM-Town Gold Badge

To embed your badge, just go to your account settings and you will see 3 different sized badges and two color schemes to choose from. Copy the embed code and use your badges where you like.

Thank you, Kevin! I absolutely love your badges, guys. I only wish the font was a bit bigger in "translation units". I can barely see it :)

Hi Kevin! I'm a new kid on the block! I was wondering: can we use our TM-Town badge in Linkedin as well? Couldn't manage so far... and I'd love to have it there as well. Thanks in advance! :+1:

Hi Nicoletta! Welcome to TM-Town!

LinkedIn allows you to add images to your profile background area and to posts, so if you want to add it there, first download your image (the color URL should be https://s3.amazonaws.com/tmtown/badges/{your_username}-color), resize it how you'd like, and then you should be able to upload it that way.

I tried uploading directly from that URL, but they don't give any options to adjust the size. The profile background area also crops to a small rectangle so I'm not sure how it will look.

Let us know if you add it, and I'll take a look to see what it looks like. If we need to add a rectangular design, we work on that :+1:

Hello Nate! Many thanks for your prompt reply! I see... therefore, it can only be added as a photo. I'll give it a try and if I eventually keep it, I'll show it to you  Thanks again! Have a nice Sunday and take care! :sunny:

Hi guys,
Thank you! this is very great and helpful. But one little request, could you make a small one with links and just the logo too? like the blue square of Linkedin. Having such a thing would be awesome for email signature, because I'm using too many links and pictures and the signature will become ugly sooner or later. I would LOVE such a thing for TM and ProZ (sorry I don't know the name of it :D )
thanks

Hi Narges,

Thanks for your comment! Getting the badges to display in your email can be a little tricky and depends on the email client you are using. I would recommend searching "How to send HTML email in {your email client}". For example, in Gmail it is not supported out of the box, but here is how you can do it: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MsMSqhMlfao

Here is an example using just the TM-Town logo which links to your profile:

<a href="https://www.tm-town.com/translators/narges_rasouli"><img src="https://s3.amazonaws.com/tm-town-emails/email-logo.png" alt="Narges Rasouli TM-Town Profile" height="20"></a>

You can adjust the height number to fit the size you want for your email (i.e. if you want it bigger, change it to height="30" or if you want it smaller change it to height="10", etc.).

Thank you Kevin. I'll try that, seems simple enough :)

Hi Roxana,

You can add the badge to your ProZ.com profile by copying the badge code and pasting it into the "About Me" section of your ProZ.com profile. If you still have trouble feel free to email info at tm-town.com and I can give you more assistance.

Kevin, I've clicked "copy code" and then gone to my Proz.com profile to paste it into the "About me" section. It does not paste. I've also tried pasting it into the section for images below it and it doesn't work there either. Is there something I'm missing?

Hi Anne Louise,

After you click the "copy code" button you will also need to click control-c on your computer. Browser security settings do not allow anything to be copied to the clipboard automatically, so be sure to click control-c (or go to the "Edit" menu on the top and click copy) for the badge text to get copied to your clipboard.

Hi,

I have pasted the badge in my Proz.com profile and it worked. But now I want to add it to my email signature and the code does not change into a badge. Why is that?

Hi Anna,

Thank you for using the badge on your ProZ.com profile! Using it with email is a little tricky and depends on your email client. Most emails are sent as plain text so it is not interpreting that HTML. I would recommend searching "How to send HTML email in {your email client}". For example, in Gmail it is not supported out of the box, but here is how you can do it: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MsMSqhMlfao
