Primitive human beings were able to skillfully capture shapes and images resembling cows. Using everyday tools in this way was a significant departure from their practical use. These were the first documented pieces in art history.
美術は多く宗教とともに発達してきたが、近代以降は宗教から独立した一分野を形づくるようになり、個性の表現としても捉えられるようになってきている。	Art has developed alongside many religions. Today, a sense of independence from religion has shaped individual expression.
美術は芸術の一分野である。	Fine art is one area of the arts.
芸術とは、表現者あるいは表現物と、鑑賞者とが相互に作用し合うことなどで、精神的・感覚的な変動を得ようとする活動である。	Art is defined by an artist's self-expression, someone who deeply senses emotions and appreciates how they change.
とりわけ表現者側の活動として捉えられる側面が強く、その場合、表現者が鑑賞者に働きかけるためにとった手段、媒体、対象などの作品やその過程を芸術と呼ぶ。	Above all, a person uses that self-expression to engage viewers and capture their imagination. How this is composed and what process is used is art.
