In order to help the reading of the next chapters, a quick classification of various mathematical problems encountered in the modelization of physical phenomena is proposed in the present chapter.	Afin de faciliter la lecture des chapitres suivants, ce chapitre présente divers problèmes mathématiques qui se posent lors de la modélisation des phénomènes physiques.
More precisely, the problems considered in this chapter are those that can be reduced to the finding of the solution of a partial differential equation (PDE).	En particulier, les problèmes ici évoqués sont ceux qui l'on peut réduire à la résolution d'une équation aux dérivées partielles (EDP).
Indeed, for many physicists, to provide a model of a phenomenon means to provide a PDE describing this phenomenon.	En effet, pour de nombreux physiciens, modéliser un phénomène revient à trouver une EDP décrivant ce phénomène.
They can be boundary problems, spectral problems, evolution problems.	Il peut s'agir de problèmes aux limites, de problèmes spectraux ou d'évolution.
General ideas about the methods of exact and approximate solving of those PDE is also proposed[1].	Ce chapitre expose également les méthodes générales de résolution exacte et approchée des EDP.
This chapter contains numerous references to the "physical" part of this book which justify the interest given to those mathematical problems.	Il y est fait de nombreuses références à la partie "physique" du présent ouvrage, qui explique l'intérêt porté à ces problèmes mathématiques.
In classical books about PDE, equations are usually classified into three categories: hyperbolic, parabolic and elliptic equation.	Dans la littérature, les EDP sont habituellement classées en trois catégories : les EDP hyperboliques, paraboliques et hyperboliques.
This classification is connected to the proof of existence and unicity of the solutions rather than to the actual way of obtaining the solution.	Cette classification est fondée sur la preuve d'existence et d'unicité des solutions.
We present here another classification connected to the way one obtains the solutions: we distinguish mainly boundary problems and evolution problems.	Celle choisie pour le présent ouvrage, en revanche, repose sur la méthode de résolution des EDP, et distingue principalement deux grand types : les problèmes aux limites et les problèmes d'évolution.
